>Thinking of You, Sweet Baby

>

When you only have one sister and she lives in another country, and she is pregnant for the third time and you have never seen her holding a baby in her womb.

You feel the distance.

You wish you could have wings to fly to her and hold her hand and look at her eyes and hug her.

Isn’t this what sisters are for?

Aren’t these moments those we need each other the most?

I think of you in the morning, sweet baby.
Isn’t it you we have been dreaming about for years?
You are in a safe place right now,
No one can hurt you where you are being woven,

where you Creator is crafting a master piece.

The song you hear all day long is your mama’s voice.
Isn’t it beautiful?
Her prayers for you rise early every morning,
and her last words at night are blessings upon you.
She is preparing a place for you,
she loves colors and fabric, and needles, and thread,
Her hands are working in delight
so you will find a place to rest your precious little head.
With her hands she sews, but with her heart she wovens
prayers and prayers, and tears fall down.
You, precious baby, will be born in sin.
Who can deny it?
We all were born death.
Your mama fears the Lord and she knows this truth well.
But fear not, little one,

for Your Redeemer lives!

And mama and papa will teach you the Truth.
They will day and night, when you raise and go to bed,
teach you the Scriptures that will make you wise unto Salvation.
Listen to them, even from now.
The Sovereign One has chosen to place you in this God-fearing home.
Fear not, little one, mama will pray for you day after day;
her trust is placed on the One who is mighty to save,
who has conquered death and has risen again,
and whose hand is not short to save.
My little one, mama will hold you with such tender care,
she is preparing all for the seasons to come.
In the Spring she will plant the seed of the Word in your heart,
In the Summer she’ll wait for the Lord to send showers
and make His Word yield much fruit in you.
During the Autumn, when leaves fall and all seems to die,
she will raise her eyes to the hills and now that you will stand firm.
The winter will come, but she will not fear for she knows the Lord
will hold you tight.
I think of you in the morning, sweet baby.
Isn’t it you we have been dreaming about for years?
I love you!

Today I am grateful for the children born in Christian homes and for godly parents who diligently teach the Word of God to their children.

Lessons from a Castle

When my friends inherited this castle, they inherited a treasure that in today’s economy it is impossible to maintain as it was in the XII century. The colors are fading, the wood needs medicine, the roof and the chimneys need to be repaired, there is moth and rust. The piano seemed to cry at times, he looked lonely. Yet we could still see the glorious building it once was, the red carpet, the furniture, the silverwear, all wanted to raise their voice and tell a secret story.  The thick walls have kept some intruders away, but not all. The thieves have always found a way through it.

We gathered and read the Word, we meditated upon everything God has inherited to His children through His Son Jesus Christ. He has given us invaluable treasures to live by, but He has also provided the means for us to keep those treasures alive. We were not left with commands and expectations impossible to keep, He gave us, through His Son, the power to live accordingly to His will. We should not fear intruders, we should not fear thieves, we should not fear the fading away of colors and the moth and rust.

Our treasure is Him.

Meditate upon the promises of God, but not to “claim them” in order to live a better life on this world or to collect more earthly treasures that will sure fade away. “Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,  but lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Read the Word, collect promises, jot them down, meditate upon them and see how you and I as children of God can live obediently and happily under His sun and by His grace.

Joining the Creation in Praise

When we walk on this beautiful stage, we can fill our lungs with fresh air and breath in grace. My little girl running, the oldest children are exploring, the days are long and the wind hissing is at times the only thing we listen to.

As I stand with wide-open eyes and see how little I am, I can’t do anything else but praise Him for coming towards me. For reaching me, for loving me.

I lift my voice and join the mountains and hills in praise;  the wind blows with might and I hear the trees beside me clapping their hands.

Who can resist praising God?

“For you shall go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills before you
shall break forth into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Isaiah 55: 12

Even the lavender seems to bow down before its Creator, and I bow my head, “Lord, please, help never stop seeing Your glory in the little things surrounding my life.”

The sun hides, and as I go to bed and breath out praises and thanksgiving prayers, I look outside and I am reminded…

I am truly Daily On My Way to Heaven….

Doctrines in the Kitchen

This post was first published on my former blog on Friday, May 21, 2010

As we were drinking another cup of coffee, I said “I cannot explain you how much being a Reformed Christian has changed my whole life”

I grew up in a Christian environment, the type which never mentions words like, “religion, sin or hell, sacrament or Lord’s Day” However, it included many phrases like, “give and you will be blessed”, “You can do all things through Christ” – the context did not matter -, “You are more than conqueror”, “You are the child of the King” -i.e live like a princess!- Now I see behind and lower my head, and bless my Redeemer.

Yes my life has changed dramatically; doctrines reached me in the kitchen, in the dining room, in my bedroom, in my backyard. The Teachings (Doctrines) of the Word have changed my worldview.
“Sovereignty, for example, has changed me tremendously.” I kept saying to my friend, “Believing that God has chosen His own, and has called them to be His own changes more than my view of how God saves his people, it changes my attitude towards every single event that happens around me”
God is Sovereign. He is Sovereign when I do not understand why winters last so much, or when I see pretty and beauty all around me. God is Sovereign when I sit or when I walk. He is Sovereign.
Doctrines should change us, the body of teachings in the Bible must change us and make us more godly; if not we are in danger, we are only puffing up.

Grace meets me every day, and what I believe I must live.

The “T” in T.U.L.I.P changed me; Total Depravity still changes me; I am the daughter of a King, yes indeed! but I am much more than that, I am His. I am hidden in Him, I do not deserve being where I am, I need a Saviour but I also need a Sanctifier. I am lost without Him. Sin is real, my fights are real, but I am His!

The Five points of Calvinism, the Five Solas of the Reformation, words like Monergism or Theology would not avail much if they would not reach me in the kitchen, in how and why I cook for my family, in my marriage bed, in my conversation with my friends, in my daily life.
