Flowers for You, so that You Will be Reminded…

Walking through this market was a joy. The smell of fresh lavender and all the bright hues of so many flowers, were a feast for any one passing by.

Enjoy the sight and walk with me through the flower’s  market in Amsterdam.

We see this beauty and yet, we still worry… why?

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,  yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:25-34 ESV

May you find in His word faith for today; just look at the flowers and be reminded…

Churches are For Worshiping God

It was here, Edinburgh, Scotland, where my heart broke in pieces to see this; a church turned into a cafe and arts center.

I walked in. My heart broke in pieces, I could not contain the tears, the fear, the anger, the sadness. It  seemed as if I was walking in one of those futurist novels, like those written by Bradbury or Orwell, yet it was real.

We are living, no doubt, in the Postmodern era.  This Reformed church like many others in the area (as we learned later), had not enough members any more, so there was not enough money  to maintain the beautiful building, and it had to be sold. The modern architects are turning them into cafes and very expensive apartments which young people find fascinating.

My heart cries and I pray for the members of the true Church of Christ, may His grace abound over us as we worship God together every Sunday.

May our bodies which are temples of the Holy Spirit, be holy and not defiled with sinful habits that corrupt our lives. May we not “sell” our bodies to the vanities of the world. May the Lord help us not to live with an outward appearance of a beautiful church building, but with a heart undefiled, that is not inclined to the idols of our world. Let us examine ourselves to see whether we are in the faith.

Let us glorify God in our body today, and worship God with our whole being. Let us rejoice with our brothers and sisters as we worship together today our God and Father.

Paris Through my Lense

I miss writing here, so much to share, so little time!

I just want to share a quote with you from my reading corner,

“Building a sacred history together {talking about marriage} teaches us to be persistent in doing good, even when we want to do something else.”  Gary Thomas, Sacred Marriage.

Now off to enjoy this beautiful time with my family and friends.

Much love to you!

Walking in Old Cities

My dear friends, we are still in another country, and still will be here for two more weeks. We are having a beautiful time as family and are enjoying visiting with great friends who have opened their home for the six of us!

I am learning so much from the Lord in this season; He has been teaching me more about the gift of hospitality, opening our homes to the saints and being hosted with all my family. I will be sharing more about it in another article (as soon as I find more time to do so!)

Meanwhile, I would love to share with you some pictures of the beautiful cities we have visited. Hope you enjoy them.

These are some of my favorite shots of Le Puy, France.

Have a joyous day today, discover great places in your our own home, and treasure them forever!

Lessons from a Castle

When my friends inherited this castle, they inherited a treasure that in today’s economy it is impossible to maintain as it was in the XII century. The colors are fading, the wood needs medicine, the roof and the chimneys need to be repaired, there is moth and rust. The piano seemed to cry at times, he looked lonely. Yet we could still see the glorious building it once was, the red carpet, the furniture, the silverwear, all wanted to raise their voice and tell a secret story.  The thick walls have kept some intruders away, but not all. The thieves have always found a way through it.

We gathered and read the Word, we meditated upon everything God has inherited to His children through His Son Jesus Christ. He has given us invaluable treasures to live by, but He has also provided the means for us to keep those treasures alive. We were not left with commands and expectations impossible to keep, He gave us, through His Son, the power to live accordingly to His will. We should not fear intruders, we should not fear thieves, we should not fear the fading away of colors and the moth and rust.

Our treasure is Him.

Meditate upon the promises of God, but not to “claim them” in order to live a better life on this world or to collect more earthly treasures that will sure fade away. “Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,  but lay up for yourself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Read the Word, collect promises, jot them down, meditate upon them and see how you and I as children of God can live obediently and happily under His sun and by His grace.
