A Song That Makes Me Close My Eyes When I Listen -Cara a Cara by Marcos Vidal-

Marcos Vidal has composed some of my all time favorite songs. He is an wonderful Spanish musician and the words to his songs are incredibly rich. I  can just listen to some of his songs over and over again without getting tired and then, in a minute, I find myself crying.

I have tried to find the lyrics to some of his songs in English to share with you, but I have not had any success. So I have decided I would do this for you -and especially for my Spanish students who are a joy for me to teach-

Solamente una palabra
Solamente una oración
Cuando llegue a tu presencia O, Señor
No me importa en que lugar
De la mesa me hagas sentar
O el color de mi corona
Si la llego a ganar
Only one word
Only one prayer
When I come to your presence O Lord
I don’t mind which place
You want me to sit at your table,
Or the color of my crown…
if I even get to have one.
Solamente una palabra
Si es que aún me queda voz
y si logro articularla
en tu presencia.
no te quiero hacer preguntas
sólo una petición
y si puede ser a solas mucho mejor
Only one word,
If I still have voice
And only if I can only articulate it
in your presence.
I don’t want to ask you questions,
Just bid you one thing,
And if it could be just you and I alone even better.
Sólo dejame mirarte cara a cara
Sólo dejame mirarte cara a cara
Only let me behold you face to face,
And get lost like a child in your gaze.
And that time won’t stop,
Not one saying anything
Because I am beholding my Master face to face.
Let my memories be drawned in your gaze,
I want to love you in silence and without saying any word.
And that time won’t stop,
Not one saying anything
Only let me behold you face to face.

Solamente una palabra
Solamente una oración
Cuando llegue a tu presencia O, Señor
No me importa en que lugar
De la mesa me hagas sentar
O el color de mi corona si la llego a ganar
Sólo dejame mirarte cara a cara
Aunque caiga derretido en tu mirada
Derrotado y desde el suelo
Tembloroso y sin aliento
Aún te seguiré mirando,  mi Maestro
Cuando caiga ante tus plantas de rodillas,
Déjame llorar pegado a tus heridas,
Y que pase mucho tiempo y que nadie me lo impida
Que he esperado este momento toda mi vida
Only one word
Only one prayer
When I come into your presence O, Lord.
mind which place you want me to sit at you table,
Or the color of my crown if I ever get one,
Only let me see you face to face
Broken and from the ground,
trembling and without breath,
I will still be beholding you, my Master.
When I fall on my knees before your feet,
Let me cry holding your wounds,
And that time won’t stop,
And that no one would stop me,
‘Cause I have been waiting for this moment all my life.

Longing for the day in which my eyes will behold His,

Becky

Songs That Make Me Close My Eyes When I Listen

My friend Kim wrote a few days ago a post with this title and I just loved it, don’t you? So I asked her if she would let me use it at least once a month to share here some of the songs that make me close my eyes when I listen… she said yes, and I am happy to do it today.

Jesus, Your name, Prince of Peace;
Quiets my soul, treasures the least.
In perfect rest You will keep
All whose hope is in You.
Jesus, Your name can silence the storms;
The strivings that trouble our world.
Jesus, Your name reveals you as Lord: Oh powerful name!

Jesus, Your name, Counselor;
Wonderful Way, Life’s Comforter.
Spirit of Truth defending me,
Though in me was the blame.
Jesus, Your name has stood in my place
And freed me from hopeless shame;
Jesus, Your name now fathers me; With joy I bear His name.

Jesus, Your name, Mighty God;
All Pow’rful One, ruling in love.
There is a King upon the throne
Earth cannot overthrow.
Jesus, Your name, great banner of hope;
Steadies the knees of the weak.
Jesus, the name all nations will praise; Oh glorious name!

Join All His Glorious Names

Lyrics by Isaac Watts
Music by Bob Kauflin
*********************
Join all the glorious names
Of wisdom love and power
That mortals ever knew
That angels ever bore
All are too poor to speak
Your vast and priceless worth
Too poor to set my Savior forth
Jesus Your name is glorious
Our Prophet Priest and King
Jesus You’re reigning over us
And forevermore
Your praises we will sing
Great Prophet of my God
My tongue would bless Your name
Through You the joyful news
Of our salvation came
The long-awaited news
Of every sin forgiven
Of hell subdued and peace with heaven
Jesus my Great High Priest
You shed Your blood and died
My guilty conscience seeks
No sacrifice beside
Your pure and precious blood
For all my sin atoned
And now it pleads before the throne

Praising His Name today and forevermore!

How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds -A Hymn to Celebrate the Excellencies of His Name-

How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds
based on Song of Solomon 1:3 “Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth.”

1. How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

2. It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
‘Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary, rest.

3. Dear Name, the rock on which I build,
My shield and hiding place,
My never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!

4. By Thee, my prayers acceptance gain,
Although with sin defiled;
Satan accuses me in vain,
And I am owned a child.

5. Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest, and King,
My Lord, my life, my way, my end,
Accept the praise I bring.

6. Weak is the effort of my heart,
And cold my warmest thought;
But when I see Thee as Thou art,
I’ll praise Thee as I ought.

7. ‘Til then I would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath,
And may the music of Thy name
Refresh my soul in death.

How to Start Your Mornings, and Two New Recipes Added to Our Repertoire

Mornings can be beautiful or awful, and we moms have the “power” to make them either. What about instead of “Hurry up!” our first words to our children are:

“This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24

These are the  first words I love my children to hear every morning; and the words I speak to myself every morning as I wake up, and believe it or not, they can help you open your eyes without grumbling!

Isaac Watts wrote a beautiful hymn based on this Psalm, the first stanza says,

This is the day the Lord hath made;
He calls the hours his own;
Let heav’n rejoice, let earth be glad,
And praise surround the throne.

Another way we can make mornings beautiful is by cooking a yummy breakfast. This week we tried one new breakfast recipe from my Pinterest board, “Good Morning, Breakfast is Ready”: Blueberry Crumb Cake

The Pioneer Woman

Yes, it was as delicious as it looks.

My girls also wanted to try a new recipe that some suggest is perfect for breakfast, but my girls thought it was perfect for dinner. (I guess some of our American friends are influencing us with their “breakfast for dinner habits”) This recipe comes from my board, “Sweets for Sweets Moments”: Red Velvet Crepês filled with a Mascarpone Cream Filling. My oldest girl decided to reduce the sugar, and I loved the results. They are very, very, very yummy.

Duhlicious

The third thing I made from Pinterest this week is agree with what this poster says:

So, excuse me, ladies… coffee is ready and waiting for me!

let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118: 24
