Saturday’s Six

1. The first one is a little anecdote that happened to me and my husband this weekend. We were in a large business dinner with people we were just getting to know, when, a few minutes into the conversation with the couple across the table, the gentleman asked my husband, “So, from what I know of you, and what you are saying, I am assuming you are Christian, Christian, Christian, right?”  To which we answered, “Yes, we are Christians.”

This made us chuckle afterwards and think how if in your head there exists room for someone to be a Christian or a Christian, Christian, Christian, then something is off in yous definition of Christian.

2. On our ongoing series of Faithful Obedience we have been reading of Christian women living out their faith in the “here and in the now.” Well, a dear family from our church, the Boyds, recently received the news that Liz has breast cancer. Her response to the news has been such a powerful example to all of us of what it means to live in faithful obedience. You can read it here.

5. On this week’s email -that we send to the women who are doing the Bible Reading Challenge, I hope to encourage them not to skim through the hard books of the Bible, but read diligently and intentionally. You can read it here.

A Love Song That Makes Me Close My Eyes When I Listen -Because I am So In Love-

I read somewhere that Christian marriage is two sinners coming together under God’s covenant, under His blessing, to grow in holiness. This is true, and because it is true I am amazed that even though we are broken and sin against each other, and seek our own interests many times, God’s blessing is enough to restore things and make them beautiful. His blessing is enough to give us precious times with the one we love. His blessings reach every area in our marriages, even our marriage bed. Intimacy between husband and wife is a gift, a joy; not because we are sinless, but because Jesus has redeemed us, and has restored us to a place in which enjoying an intimate time with our husband is a gift, a good gift from above. And his gifts are to be cherished.

Our marriage is not perfect at all -don’t even think that- Even after almost 19 years we are still learning, growing, dying, living. But one thing is sure: I am in love with the man who holds my heart.

This is one of my favorite albums of Kenny G. and this song, Everything I Do, I Do It for You is one that makes me close my eyes.

 

May we learn to whisper “I love you” more often, and do everything we do for the man who put a ring on our finger and a seal on our heart.

A Love Song That Makes Me Close My Eyes When I Listen -and a giveaway-

When my husband and I got married, one of the dreams we had was to travel through the world together. It really seemed like an impossible dream, but we are grateful that God’s Providence has brought that dream to come true.

Friends always ask us which has been our favorite country, city, or corner of the world… we always say it is so hard to tell, every place has its own magic. There are many books that tell you all about traveling, and the 1,000 places to see before you die; and every time I see them I think to myself, “no matter where I go, or not go, the eyes of my husband is what I don’t want to miss seeing.” 

So, no matter where you travel, or not… make sure that you see into your husband’s eyes today.

 

 

Andrew Peterson has so many wonderful songs, that I am sure you would totally love.
