>Monday Morning Prayer

>

You know how I love to share with you every Monday those mercies that God has bestowed so generously upon  me and my family. This weekend I have been thinking about some of the words that Staci Eastin said in her book, The Organized Heart,
Make Your Schedule a Matter of Prayer
Today, I am simply grateful for that phrase, for those words that have given me lots to think about. So today, instead of sharing my gratitude list with you; I will share a prayer from The Valley of Vision; a prayer for Monday mornings (In the evening I will post one to close our day)
O GOD ALL- SUFFICIENT,
Thou hast made and upholdest all things by the word of thy power;
                           darkness is thy pavilion,
                           thou walkest on the wings of the wind;
                           all nations are nothing before Thee;
                           one generation succeeds another,
                           and we hasten back to the dust;
                           the heavens we behold will banish away
                           like the clouds that cover them,
                           the earth we tread on will dossolve
                           as a morning dream;
But Thou, unchangeable and incorruptible,
                 art for ever and ever,
                 God over all, blessed eternally.
Infinitely great and glorious Thou art.
We are thy offspring and thy care.
Thy hands have made and fashioned us.
Thou hast watched over us with more than parental love,
                                     more than maternal tenderness.
Thou hast holden our soul in life,
and not suffered our feet to be moved.
Thy Divine power has given us all things
necessary for life and godliness.
Let us bless thee at all times and forget not how thou hast
           forgiven our iniquities,
           healed our diseases,
           redeemed our lives from destruction,
           crowned us with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
           satisfied our mouths with good things,
           renewed our youth like the eagle’s.
May thy Holy Scriptures
              govern every part of our lives,
              and regulate the discharge of all our duties,
              so that we may adorn thy doctrine in all things.
   Amen

May our schedules this week be bathed with prayer; let us see that all that the Lord has set before us to do be governed by Him.

>Make Me, O Lord, Like Timothy and Epaphroditus

>I finished this week memorizing chapters 1 and 2 of Philippians.  Chapter 2 verses 19- 24 speak to us about Timothy and verses 25- 30 reveal to us another godly man’s characteristics, his name was Epaphroditus.

This is my prayer after being meditating on these verses these past weeks.

Lord, I acknowledge that all your Word is inspired by you, breathed by You; and it is profitable for teaching me how to live, it is profitable for correction and for training me in righteousness, so that I may be competent, equipped for every good work. Lord, I am so grateful that you inspired Paul to write this letter to the Philippians; thank you because as I study it, I see that even in those words which I some times read without reverence and a learning spirit, You speak to us.

Lord, create in my a heart like the one Timothy had; it amazes me to read that he was the only one genuinely concerned for the welfare of the church at Philippi. O Father, that I too may be genuinely concerned for my brothers and sisters in Christ, for your Church. Forgive me,  Father, because I have many times seek my own interests. So many times I have said that I am concerned for others, but I soon forget to keep them in my prayers and now I see that it is a clear sign that I am not genuinely concerned for them. Help me to be willing and available to serve your body, starting with my own family, just as Timothy was willing and available as a son with a father to serve the church at Philippi.

Lord, create in my a heart of a servant like the one Epaphroditus had. Just to see how Paul loved him! He was certainly a good brother to him; he was a fellow worker, a fellow soldier, a faithful messenger and a minister to the needs of others, even to the point of risking his own life to serve the Church. Lord, I long to be a good and faithful servant; always willing never nagging, or complaining. Help me have and keep a joyful attitude as I serve you where you have placed me, my home. Help me be a faithful fellow worker to my husband, a fellow soldier, praying without ceasing; help me be ready to minister to the needs of my family at home and at church.

This is my prayer today, in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

Amen.

Praying the Psalms- Psalm 93-

b412b-prayingthepsalmsbuttonPsalm 93

The LORD Reigns
The LORD reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the LORD is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the LORD on high is mighty!
Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O LORD, forevermore.

 *****************************

O God, You are Divine, You are Omnipotent,
Yours is the world in which I walk,
You reign today over all,
over every circumstance,
over all my world;
You reign indeed.
I may be confused and tempted to doubt,
but You never move,
You always reign.
You are my King, robed in Majesty,
with your strength as your belt.
Everything is under your Sovereign care;
Your decrees are always fulfilled,
by men and nature,
by seas and earth.
The wind never blows against a leaf
without Your permission.
You are King.
You are my Sovereign King.
From everlasting my times are in your hands,
my plans and desires,
the longings of my heart,
nothing escapes from Your Sovereign will.
Mightier You are, O LORD,
than all the storms,
than all my fears,
than all my sins.
Your voice is Mightier than Satan’s accusations,
Your Word is Mighty to save
even a sinful woman like me.
Your Word is a mighty Sword
that cuts into my soul
and changes
my nature.
Lord, You are Mighty
and faithful to save your own.
Lord, you are Mighty
and faithful to preserve your own
even through terrible storms,
and passages of death,
and valleys of silence.
Lord, let my heart never forget
that Your decrees are very trustworthy,
that holiness befits your house,
O LORD, forevermore.

>Gift Wrap Prayers for Your Husband

>Praying for our husband is a gift we can give him, a beautiful thing we can do every day, during the day. However, for me it seemed difficult at times because I always found myself praying the same prayer over and over again.

The best way to pray effectively in all areas. including our husband, is praying with the Scriptures, in accord with the Word of God; so I decided to try this book,  Prayers of an Excellent Wife, by Andrew Case. Today I can say that this is a book I highly recommend you.

This book has helped me to pray in so many different ways that I had not prayed before for my husband based on the Scriptures.

One thing that I would like to make clear here, is that just with any other of my favorite prayer books, I use the prayers as models, as springboards to help me pray more effectively, using my own words.

Let us give our husband the gift of a praying wife behind him, every day, all days….

“O Triune God,
I love you, O LORD, my strength.
May You be to my husband his rock and his fortress and his deliverer, his God, his rock in whom he takes refuge, his shield, and the horn of his salvation, his stronghold. You alone are worthy to be praised.
By Your mercy bring him out into a broad place; rescue him, because You delight in him. Put all your rules before him, and may he never put your statutes away from him. For it is You who light his lamp; O  LORD my God, lighten his darkness. Make him abide in this precious promise: ‘This GOD- His way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him.’
Give him the shield of your Salvation, and with Your right hand support him, and with Your gentleness make him great. With Your perfect law, O LORD, revive his soul. With Your sure testimony make him wise. By Your right precepts cause his heart to rejoice. And may Your pure commandment enlighten his eyes.
Keep him, your servant, also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over him! Let the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer (Psalm 18 and 19)”

May His grace abound in us as we learn the privileges of being wives who constantly pray and intercede for their husband.

Gift Wrap Respect for Your Husband

 *******************

>Psalm 5:3

>

O Lord, let this be my manner of life, waking up in You, to You, seeking your face. Let your name be the first thing my mouth speaks every day.

What can I say as soon as I wake up, as soon as my eyes are granted to be opened to a new day, and I found breath in me? What else can I say, but, thank you, thank you, O LORD, for sustaining my life through the night. Even though life is so fragile, you upheld me through the night; even though I sin day after day, I find mercy in you morning after morning.

Lord, may I live this day in You, for You; not for myself. Help me today to walk in your Word, meditating in Your commandments and loving your statutes more that anything on this world. Help me today to live loving my husband, my children, my neighbor from the rising of the sun to the going down of it.

Lord, let the mediations of my heart from the moment I open my eyes in the morning to the moment I close them at night be pleasing unto you.

In Jesus’ name, in whom I am reconciled with you.

Amen

>A Prayer in the Evening Before the Lord’s Day

>

“Now give us to remember that tomorrow is the sabbath of the LORD, and that it is a high day, holy of the Lord and honourable, and give us grace to sanctify us ourselves, that tomorrow the Lord may do wonders among us; and to mind the work of our preparation, now the sabbath draws on.
When thous sawest every thing that thou hadst made in six days, behold all was very good, but in many things we have all offended. O that by repentance and faith in Christ’s blood, we may wash not only our feet, but also our hands, and our head, and our heart, ans so may compass thine altar, O Lord.
Now give us to rest from all our own works, and to leave all our worldly cares at the bottom of the hill, while we go up to the mount to worship God, and to return again to them”

Matthew Henry, A Method for Prayer
